Highlands, North Carolina
A Home Watch Service Built by People Who Actually Live Here
Kyle and Kylee Henson are Highlands residents who founded this service out of a genuine love for this community, and a belief that truly great home watch requires personal investment, not just a checklist.
We watch over homes the way a trusted neighbor would. Except we know what we’re doing.
Henson Home Watch was started by Kyle Henson and his daughter Kylee Henson, both residents of Highlands, NC. We live here, get our groceries at Bryson's and Ingles, hike here, play pickleball here, and care deeply about this community and the people in it.
When we check on your home, we bring local knowledge and genuine care to every visit. We know what a hard freeze at 4,000 feet does to unprotected pipes. We know the contractors worth calling. We know the roads that flood. This isn't information you can pull from a manual — it comes from years of living in these mountains.
We keep our roster intentionally small — not because we have to, but because that's the only way to do this work right. Every homeowner gets serviced directly by Kyle and Kylee alone so you always know who's been in your home every time, and we know your property and specific preferences.
Kyle Henson
After 25 years, Kyle retired from insurance and is now a home watcher, privatepreneur coach, and mediocre pickleball player. With connections across the Highlands area, Kyle handles all property walkthroughs, homeowner relations, and vendor coordination personally.
Kylee Henson
Homeschooled her whole life, Kylee has come to love Highlands. She works alongside Kyle as a home watcher and part-time at The Mountain Retreat and Learning Center, just a stone's throw from home. Her attention to detail and genuine care for people make everyone feel looked after.
How We're Different
What sets us apart is not a course we completed or a badge on our wall — it is the energy we bring to this work. We come to every home with a servant's heart. Not because we're being watched or rated, but because we genuinely believe that caring for someone's property is a duty worth taking seriously. A home is not just a building. It is what a man or woman worked for, the place they chose, the things they love. When someone hands us a key, we do not take that lightly.
We believe deeply in the sanctity of property. When we step inside a home, we are stepping inside someone's private life. That awareness shapes every decision we make — how we move through the space, what we touch and why, how we document what we find, and how we speak about it afterward. Your home is yours. We are there only to watch over it well, as people who understand what it means to belong to a place.
We also choose to work in the private — not as a legal strategy, but as a reflection of how we think about people. Our agreement with you is between us, as men and women, not between entities and accounts. No corporate structure, no rotating staff, no fine print designed to protect us from you. Just a straight agreement between real people, with our names behind it.
Because we wanted to be genuinely knowledgeable and skilled in this work, we are graduates of the Home Watch Academy and use its Water Zone method on every visit — a disciplined framework that treats each home as a series of zones where water is present, flows, or has the potential to cause harm. We learned it not to earn a credential but because these mountain homes demand thoroughness, and we wanted to be equal to that.
We endeavor to be of service to mankind above all else. We'll never hide behind contracts and policies. We will always take responsibility for ourselves and our work and make peaceful remedy where we fall short. That's the energy we want to bring to every man or woman we relate with in our work, our community, and the world.

How We Work
What You Can Always Expect From Us
Every visit, every home, every time.
Documented Every Visit
You receive a photo report after every single visit, timestamped, systematic, and thorough. No visit goes unrecorded. No issue goes unreported.
Always Reachable
You call, Kyle or Kylee answers — not a call center, not a voicemail system. Real people who know your property and can tell you exactly what's going on.
Rapid Storm Response
After any significant weather event, we conduct a damage assessment and report back to you quickly. Mountain weather moves fast, so do we.
Vetted Vendor Network
When something needs attention, we don't flip through a phone book. We coordinate with contractors we know, trust, and have worked with across dozens of mountain properties.
What We Stand For
Our Commitments to You
Private by Design
Henson Home Watch operates under private agreements between individuals — not through a corporate entity, franchise, or institutional structure. This is intentional. Our agreement with you is personal, direct, and one page.
Kyle & Kylee Only
No crews, no subcontractors, no strangers. Only Kyle and Kylee ever enter your home. You know exactly who is in your property, always.
Photo Reporting Protocol
Every visit produces a timestamped, organized photo report delivered to you promptly. This documentation protects you, your insurance carrier, and your legal standing — whether you need it or not.
Highlands Residents
Kyle and Kylee live in Highlands, NC — actual neighbors with the local knowledge and personal stake that only comes from living where you work year-round.
A Commitment Earned Every Visit
We earn your continued trust through excellent service, not lock-in clauses. If we're not doing our job, you shouldn't have to stay — but in our experience, homeowners don't leave.
7-Day Availability
Mountain properties don't respect business hours, and neither do emergencies. We're available seven days a week for time-sensitive situations and storm response.
Where We Work
Serving the Mountain Communities We Call Home
We serve a carefully defined territory across Western North Carolina and Northern Georgia, areas we know intimately, where we have established vendor relationships, and where we can respond quickly when it matters.
If you're not sure whether your property falls within our service area, reach out. We're happy to let you know what's possible.
